I love Rarity. Whenever I see Rarity hate I have to wonder if these people are watching the same show… yeah, she’s a total drama queen sometimes, yeah, she can be oblivious to the feelings of others, but never maliciously. She’s creative instead of just a consumer of fashion (not that there’s anything wrong with a little consumption now and again), and one has to wonder how she keeps a business afloat in a world where nopony actually needs to wear clothes— especially since she seems to like lavishing gifts on her friends— but she does it, like a boss.

The other day, my brother brought up a ‘which pony are you’ personality test we’d both found and taken independent of each other, and when I said I was apparently mostly a Twilight, my sister expressed surprise that I wasn’t Rarity. From her, I took it as a clear compliment*. (I feel like I’m a pretty even split between the Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy, actually… with a healthy dose of Pinkie when I’m not in a depressive phase).

Anyway, thanks, Rarity, for being a good example of how girly things don’t have to be any less smart, nice, or ‘good’. I don’t get my girly on often, but when I do, I like to feel fabulous about it.

*seriously, my sister is A) pretty darn fashionable, and B) a serious perfectionist who likes to get *snap* things *snap* done *snap*. She considers herself an even mix of all the mane six, because unlike me, she is super competitive, and I really only compete with myself…
